Hillary Clinton

by Richard Ducayne

WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com – Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s shortlist for vice presidential possibilities has been leaked. The list is quite short and contains two self-identified Catholics.

The first possible pick on the shortlist is Methodist Elizabeth Warren, who has been outspoken about her support for access to abortion. She has supported public abortion funding as well as laws that would force churches to provide birth control, and has said there should be no Supreme Court nominees who oppose legal abortion. Warren has also been a vocal proponent of the LGBT movement.

The second possible pick on Hillary’s VP list is former Ohio senator Sherrod Brown. Brown is a Lutheran and has supported LGBT rights, and has voted against prohibiting same-sex couples from adopting children in Washington. D.C. Sherrod is also a strong advocate for easy access to abortion.

There are other Protestant picks for Hillary’s campaign, but two of her choices include Catholics. One of her picks, Tom Perez, former secretary of labor under the Obama administration, has been involved in scandals that have been swept under the rug.

In 2008, Perez dropped voter intimidation charges against two men from the New Black Panther Party. The men had stood in front of a polling place in Philadelphia with nightsticks and became aggressive when people standing by asked what they were doing.

The case was said to have been straightforward against the two men. This was until the head of the Civil Rights Division — Perez at the time — dropped the case. The attorney who worked for Perez, J. Christian Adams, resigned in protest and said that Barack Obama’s choice of Perez was the “most extreme cabinet nominee in 70 years.”

Perez also relates with Clinton when it comes to the subject of emails. Oversight Chairman Darrell Issa has said it appears Perez used his personal email account almost 1,200 times since 2009 to conduct business. This included communicating with abortion giant Planned Parenthood and the New York Times.

Another Catholic pick by Clinton is Xavier Becerra, who is pro-choice and supports access to abortion. He received a 100 percent rating from Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America in 2012.

Other Catholic potential VPs include Julian Castro, a strong supporter of the LGBT agenda, and Tim Ryan, who used to be known as a pro-life Democrat and now supports abortion. Protestants Eric Garcetti, mayor of Los Angeles, and Cory Booker, senator from New Jersey, also join the list

Fifty-four percent of Catholics voted for Obama in 2008, and 50 percent of Catholics voted for Obama in 2012. Some say this is owing to Barack Obama’s choice of a Catholic running mate in Joseph Biden.

A Prayer for Priests
By St. Therese of Lisieux

O Jesus, eternal Priest,
keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart,
where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands,
which daily touch Your Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips,
daily purpled with your Precious Blood.

Keep pure and unearthly their hearts,
sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.

Let Your holy love surround them and
shield them from the world’s contagion.

Bless their labors with abundant fruit and
may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.

I sat with Fr. Gary Thomas who is arguably the best known exorcist in America. This video is a short segment of the unedited raw interview shot for a new documentary film called “Battling Darkness: Hollywood & the Rise of Exorcism”.

In this revealing documentary, leading voices from Hollywood and the Christian community, as well as psychologists and modern-day exorcists, discuss the mysteries of the demonic realm. Through a Biblical understanding and first-hand accounts, the film provides insights into the reality of spiritual warfare and offers keys to victory when you find yourself Battling Darkness.

Prior to 1973, Satan seemed all but dead and gone, the casualty of a modernist mindset. But with Linda Blair’s disturbing performance in The Exorcist, Satan returned with a vengeance. Since that landmark film, audiences worldwide have been fascinated with movies about demonic possession and the spirit realm. However, given Hollywood’s tendency to take creative license, the question arises, “Is the visage of Satan now presented Biblical or distorted?” And more importantly, how have these images influenced society’s consideration of both the demonic and spiritual warfare?

Battling Darkness is a thought-provoking documentary that examines these questions with objectivity and insight from psychologists, modern-day exorcists and leading voices in Christianity.

FEATURES

Linda Blair is an American actress, best known for her role as the possessed child in the 1973 film The Exorcist. For her part in that film, she was nominated for an Academy Award and two Golden Globes, winning one.

Dr. Tony Campolo is an American sociologist, pastor, author, public speaker and former spiritual advisor to U.S. President Bill Clinton. He is a popular commentator on religious, political, and social issues, and has been a guest on programs such as Larry King Live, Nightline, Crossfire, and 100 Huntley Street.

Fr. Gary Thomas has served as the Diocese of San Jose’s official Vatican-certified exorcist for the past six years. His experiences during his training in Rome became the subject of the 2009 book, The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist, by Matt Baglio. The 2011 film, The Rite, starring actor Anthony Hopkins, was based on this book.

Hank Hanegraaf, also known as The Bible Answer Man, is an American author, radio talk-show host and advocate of Evangelical Christianity. He is an outspoken apologist on doctrinal and cultural issues.

Dr. Neil T Anderson is a best-selling author on spiritual freedom, including Victory Over the Darkness, The Bondage Breaker, and The Steps to Freedom in Christ. He is founder and president emeritus of Freedom in Christ Ministries.

How Much More Bizarre Can It Get?

Teenage Boy Wins Girl’s Track Meet

By Father Shenan J. Boquet, President, Human Life International:

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)

How much more bizarre can our society get? It’s a question that many have been asking for a long time, but these days it’s hard to keep up with the answers, which change hourly.

In Alaska, a boy who thinks he’s a girl is allowed to participate in the girls’ track meet, and he wins. The girls are not happy, but are not quite sure how to express their protest since they don’t want to be branded as bigots for calling a boy a boy when that boy wants to be called a girl.

There are a growing number of reports that the man formerly known as Bruce Jenner, who now goes by the name “Caitlyn,” is having second thoughts about “transitioning” to womanhood and is contemplating returning to identifying himself as what he still actually is, a man. This regret is actually common for people who adopt the appearance and lifestyle of the opposite sex. These reports have not been confirmed, but were this to occur, does anyone really think that the fascistic LGBT movement will support such a transition?

A famous homosexual couple has adopted children (apparently two men cannot naturally conceive a child) and projected a carefully cultivated image as a “happily” “married” couple with the help of media who desperately want to tell such a story. Yet as it turns out, their private lives are more sordid than the story allows, and the couple is suing to silence media who would report certain ugly and inconvenient facts, so that their adopted children would be spared the pain of knowing what their adoptive parents actually do.

The idea that the LGBTQQ… movement is about to implode has been discussed recently, and there are signs of sanity coming from progressives who have been supportive of the movement but are starting to recognize its totalitarian and anti-human nature. Better late than never, I suppose.

How Much More Bizarre Can It Get?

I’m not sure the question is meaningful anymore, since all bets are off. There are many conversations going on about how we arrived here, with a great deal of interesting histories of cultural Marxism, Communism, feminism, and other anti-Christian ideologies whose goal has been to “liberate” men and woman from the oppression of religion, marriage, traditional roles of men and women, etc.

I’m not sure the girls in Alaska, Mr. Jenner, or the famous couple and their children feel all that liberated.

When your revolution is based on a lie, it will certainly fall, but it can do a lot of damage to nations, lives and souls before it does. We “got here” because we turned our backs on God. We happen to be living through a deluge of degradation almost unimaginable even a few years ago.

The Church Predicted This

Except that the Church did imagine this collapse. Specifically, Cardinal Ratzinger, later Pope Benedict XVI, said something that could have been written yesterday, in 1984’s The Ratzinger Report (summarized by Christopher West):

What we are living through in our day is the result of an ideology that has completely severed body and soul. And that’s the very definition of death. Barring a divine intervention, we must now endure the full consequences of the “uprooting of the human person in the depth of his nature” – an uprooting that stems from the fact that “sex has remained without a locus and has lost its point of reference” since the cultural embrace of contraception (The Ratzinger Report, p. 84).

By detaching sex from procreation, the essential meaning and natural orientation of the gender distinction is lost and one’s sex is eventually “viewed as a simple role, interchangeable at one’s pleasure,” Ratzinger observed. From there, people end up demanding the right of “escaping from the ‘slavery of nature,’ demanding the right to be male or female at one’s will or pleasure”  (p. 95).

The Consequences of Embracing Contraception

Call this an update of Humanae vitae 17, in which Blessed Pope Paul VI famously predicted — against the spirit of the age — that the wide embrace of contraception would have a host of negative consequences. Those who dismissed Pope Paul, and later Cardinal Ratzinger, simply couldn’t imagine what we are actually seeing happen today, when we call evil good, and good, evil. When we don’t know God, how can we know ourselves?

I love serving a Church that knows the true nature of man and woman because she knows the One in whose image we are made. I love serving a Church that knows what is true and good, a Church that knows Christ because she was founded by Him. I am grateful for her social and moral doctrine, which are rooted in Holy Scripture, and offer true liberation by guiding all people of good will to live in love and truth.

If you are looking around for a rock to hold onto as the flood waters rise and currents seem to pull you away, know that you have it in the One, Holy, Catholic Church. Avail yourself of God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Penance and in His body and blood, soul and divinity in the Blessed Sacrament. Choose from among the many devotions available to the faithful and make your faith central to your life, and invite others to do the same. Be an example of joyful and intelligent faith, and a source of strength for your family and all whom you meet.

Don’t be afraid! Live with courage, faith, hope and love.

Faithful Departed

Amend your life so that you can be one of the faithful departed.

TRANSCRIPT

Have you ever paid specific attention to the way we pray for the dead at Mass? We don’t pray for everyone who has ever died in the history of mankind world without end amen. We pray for those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. We pray in other prayers outside of Mass for the faithful departed — those who departed full of faith.

Why is this? Because the Church recognizes, if not all Her modernist and Church of Nice bishops do, that some humans are damned. As an aside, centuries of Church tradition tell us most of humanity is damned. That’s why the distinction is made in the first place. The Church doesn’t make distinctions where distinctions are not required. There would be no purpose in praying for the faithful departed if the Church believed that everyone went to Heaven, or even if there was a reasonable hope that all men were saved and went to Heaven.

Now when you boil this down, this distinction in how the Church prays for those who have died is quite sobering. When the Church prays for those marked with the sign of faith, when it singles them out, distinguishing those marked, it is distinguishing them from those not marked with the sign of faith. When She prays for the faithful departed, She is not praying for the unfaithful departed. In short, Holy Mother Church is making a distinction between the saved and the damned.

Prayers for those in Hell have no effect. There is no hope for them. Now, the Church doesn’t say which individual souls are in Hell, which specific humans are damned, but She absolutely acknowledges that there are humans there. She acknowledges that in how She prays and what She says.

The damned are now forgotten to us, like they never existed. That’s from our perspective. If we ever encounter them again, it will be the sorriest day of our existence, for it will mean that we too have been damned. We should never mourn the damned for they are the enemies of God. We could and should mourn that they chose what they chose which resulted in their damnation, the result of their free-will choices — but even there, caution is advised.

Their freely chosen damnation is proof of the justice of God. In God’s justice, He gives a soul what the soul wants. He essentially ratifies what the soul has already chosen. He gave humans the ability to choose Him or not Him. When a person chooses not Him, then God is merely fulfilling what the person has chosen as well as His own creative action.

The damned are forever forgotten, not prayed for, unremembered, unknown. The deepest longing of the human soul is to be known in the most complete way of being known it can be — loved for itself, known, understood, embraced, caressed, thought of continually. But this desire remains eternally frustrated in Hell, where the damned are never known, not even by each other or their new and everlasting master, Satan. The just, the elect, the Church Triumphant, the Church Suffering and the Church Militant have no longer any regard for them because they have chosen to separate themselves from the Church forever.

But flip this around for a moment and imagine for a terrifying moment being among the damned. Consider this despite the Church of Nice telling you it isn’t a serious threat. It is most certainly — more certain than the sun rising tomorrow — a serious threat.

Imagine being shut off for all eternity from any compassion, any caring, any concern. Far from no one to ever love you, you would never again know anyone having any concern for you, other than demons torturing you. You would be forever cut off from all care, sympathy; kind words would be replaced by the air being filled with curses and insufferable screams of terror, with your own screams being joined to the others, screams which will never be heard.

But as insufferable as they would be, you would have to suffer them, would have to come to realize, over and over again in a stunning brutal moment of clarity, that this is your lot forever, never ending. And just as you have realized that horror, then you realize it again, and again and again, throwing yourself from one agony to another. And in this nightmare you are forgotten, utterly and completely, and you are trapped forever. And the worm that Our Blessed Lord refers to when He speaks of the worm that dieth not in the fires of Gehenna is the realization that you have done this to yourself.

Love and caring and compassion did not abandon you — you abandoned them. And since you abandoned them, you have willfully placed yourself outside of the loving embrace of Jesus Christ and His Holy Bride, the Catholic Church, outside of which there is only Hell. The joyful strains of heavenly choirs will be poison to your ears. The happiness of the elect will cause you to writhe in agony because this could have been yours.

And you will live forever knowing there will never again be anyone or anything to love you. You will never be mourned for, cared for, even remembered. You are now totally forgotten because you have not the sign of faith and were among the unfaithful departed.

Amend your lives, all of us, while we still have breath and can change this outcome. It is not sealed until we die, but when we die, it is sealed forever.

h“The Christian faithful are those who, inasmuch as they have been incorporated in Christ through Baptism, have been constituted as the people of God; for this reason, since they have become sharers in Christ’s priestly, prophetic, and royal office in their own manner, they are called to exercise the mission which God has entrusted to the Church to fulfill in the world, in accord with the condition proper to each one.”

“In virtue of their rebirth in Christ there exists among all the Christian faithful a true equality with regard to dignity and the activity whereby all cooperate in the building up of the Body of Christ in accord with each one’s own condition and function.”

The very differences which the Lord has willed to put between the members of his body serve its unity and mission. For “in the Church there is diversity of ministry but unity of mission…

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik proudly represents New York’s 21st District in the House of Representatives where she is a Member of both the Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Education and the Workforce. On the House Armed Services Committee, Congresswoman Stefanik serves as Vice-Chair for the Subcommittee on Readiness. On the Committee on Education and the Workforce, Congresswoman Stefanik serves on the Subcommittees on Workforce Protections and Higher Education and Workforce Training. She was elected by her freshman peers in the 114th Congress to serve as the Freshman Representative to the Policy Committee where she is the Chair of the Millennial Task Force. Congresswoman Stefanik is proudly the youngest woman ever elected to Congress in United States history.

Among her first term initiatives, Congresswoman Stefanik:

  • Successfully led the New York State delegation in saving Fort Drum from up to 16,000 military personnel cuts due to sequestration.
  • Helped the House Pass the Promoting Job Creation and Reducing Small Business Burdens Act — bipartisan legislation that would reduce burdensome federal regulations to help our small businesses grow.
  • Authored the Be Open Act – legislation that passed the House of Representatives and was signed into law by the President. This is the largest fix to ObamaCare of 2015 and repeals the auto-enrollment mandate that reduces choices in health coverage and has created confusion that can lead to significant tax penalties on both the employer and employee.
  • Introduced the Flexible Pell Grant for 21st Century Students Act — bipartisan legislation developed from her higher education roundtables that will help students complete a postsecondary education quickly and at a lower cost.
  • Helped pass the Bipartisan Budget Act – a two year budget agreement that lifted the devastating defense sequester cuts and put an end to crisis-to-crisis governing.
  • Was the sole freshman negotiator on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and fought hard to include language to help protect and strengthen Fort Drum.
  • Brought a new commitment to transparency to Congress, posting her legislative votes to Facebook and keeping her website updated with her legislative work and public schedule.

Prior to winning her election to Congress overwhelmingly by over 20 points, Congresswoman Stefanik worked at her family’s small business called Premium Plywood Products that was founded in Upstate New York over twenty years ago. Growing up in her family’s small business, she learned, lived and understands the values of hard work, perseverance, challenges, and risk that go along with building, operating and growing small businesses that provide jobs in today’s Upstate economy.

Congresswoman Stefanik’s policy focus includes:

  • Creating jobs and economic opportunities for small businesses and hard working families in Upstate New York.
  • Reducing the out-of-control tax and regulatory burdens facing small businesses by reforming the tax code to be flatter and fairer and eliminating red tape.
  • Repealing Obamacare and replacing it with common sense solutions to lower health care costs and improve quality and access.
  • Fighting for fiscal responsibility by balancing the budget and protecting and preserving entitlements.
  • Supporting Upstate farmers – the backbone of our North Country communities.
  • Protecting Fort Drum and advocating for veterans and military families.
  • Pursuing energy policies that help North Country families and businesses.
  • Finding solutions for hard working North Country families to help make education higher quality and more affordable.
  • Promoting and strengthening U.S.-Canadian trade relations.

Congresswoman Stefanik served as Director of Vice Presidential Debate Prep to Paul Ryan where she oversaw all debate preparations for the Republican Vice Presidential nominee. She served as Director of Communications for the Foreign Policy Initiative, which launched Defending Defense, a coalition of think tanks warning of the dangers of the sequester.

From 2006 – 2009, Congresswoman Stefanik served in the West Wing of the White House as part of President George W. Bush’s Domestic Policy Council Staff and in the Chief of Staff’s office where she assisted in overseeing the policy development process on all economic and domestic policy issues.

As the first member of her immediate family to graduate from college, Congresswoman Stefanik graduated with Honors from Harvard University. She currently serves on the Senior Advisory Committee of Harvard’s Institute of Politics, the largest political undergraduate organization.

Congresswoman Stefanik was born and raised in Upstate New York. She graduated cum laude from Albany Academy for Girls, the oldest continuous all girls’ school in the country. She lives in Willsboro, NY where her family has had a home since she was 3.

"There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily" – George Washington letter to Edmund Randolph — 1795. We live in a “post-truth” world. According to the dictionary, “post-truth” means, “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” Simply put, we now live in a culture that seems to value experience and emotion more than truth. Truth will never go away no matter how hard one might wish. Going beyond the MSM idealogical opinion/bias and their low information tabloid reality show news with a distractional superficial focus on entertainment, sensationalism, emotionalism and activist reporting – this blogs goal is to, in some small way, put a plug in the broken dam of truth and save as many as possible from the consequences—temporal and eternal.
