Church and post council

Where is the Catholic Church going? The Church A Saint is alive and immaculate in her Bridegroom; but a part of the visible one risks undergoing a ‘genetic mutation’ or has this already happened in spite of us and are we seeing its effects? We confront each other to “resist”, in faithfulness.Thursday 23 January 2020The future of Italy and Europe is not in idols but in ChristThe faith of the apostles Peter and Paul is the root of the culture which, from Rome and Italy, has reached all of Europe, giving it its Christian identity. Only in Christianity is there a future for Italy, instead neo-paganism will lead to its certain ruin. Card. Gerhard Müller, Grand Prior of the Constantinian Order, during the homily held on January 21, the feast of St. Agnese, in the Basilica he holds in Piazza Navona, in Rome. The only source from which clean water flows for the rebirth of the Eternal City and of all Italy is the Christian image of man. A politician who holds up the rosary in a symbolic gesture of one who knocks down the cross of Christ with a concrete gesture is more deserving of trust. What fascinates us in today’s young people is not only their graceful appearance, but also their sporting or educational performance and their openness to the future. Some even become models for their generation. Sixteen year old Swedish Greta Thunberg, for example, has become an icon of the global environmental movement. So let us pray that the media hype created around you will not end up harming you.The twelve year old Roman girl Agnes, however, is not an ephemeral idol of her time, but an imperishable ideal of the Christian faith. She still today, 1700 years after her death, is not forgotten. Catholics around the world admire this girl for her heroism and venerate her as a saint.Regarding his death suffered in fidelity to God, the great Father of the Church of St. Ambrose of Milan affirmed: “Here, therefore, in a single victim a double martyrdom, of purity and religion. And she remained a virgin and obtained martyrdom “(De Virg. II, 9).Already as a child Agnese knew clearly how to distinguish between the one true God and the many false idols revered by pagans. The world was created for man, it serves as a home and a source for food. Man exists by virtue of himself and is naturally created oriented towards God, the One in whom only our hearts find rest. Those who are created in the image and likeness of God live in the awareness of their dignity to be sons and daughters of God. And therefore we fear neither the destructive forces of nature, nor the vagaries of fate or the wrath of tyrants. We do not practice a cult of the personality of the rich, beautiful and powerful. The glory of the world is passing and all men are mortal. «Because the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord “(Rom 6:23).In Rome the first Christians had achieved the freedom of faith in the one God, sacrificing their lives in the fight against an almost invincible pagan power, which found expression in the cult of the emperor, in the high culture of the scholars and in the superstitious mentality of the great masses. Not falling back into the old forms of worship of futile idols and their images and statues in wood, stone and metal, we will follow their example: “We will no longer call the work of our hands” our god “(Hos 14: 4). Idolatry is not an exciting immersion in exotic cultures and in their fertility rites with sexual connotations. In fact, faith in the gods and demons and the invocation of the elements by shamans obscures the truth of salvation, that is, the fact that it is through Jesus that we are “freed from the slavery of corruption to enter the freedom of the glory of the children of God “(Rom 8:21).Unfortunately for them, many men of our time have forgotten or deliberately cut off their Christian roots. Following a substitute neo-pagan religion, they began to “absolutize” the cosmos, our planet, evolution, the world wide web, technology again. They act as if these passing realities could give man the ultimate reason and the support he needs. In their pagan foolishness they congratulate themselves on the alleged “scientific knowledge” that man is only an animal and death the end of everything. They mock our faith in the imperishable dignity of man and consider the resurrection of the flesh a fairy tale for children, ignoring the fact that our reason already tells us that nature does not produce anything unnecessarily. Or should we believe that the Creator of nature created man in vain, endowing him with the perpetual search for truth and the unquenchable yearning for happiness, just to make fun of him? With the blood of his young girl.

2019-09-30_Manifesto_of_Faith_-_The_Movie

“He observed that Müller’s manifesto “really cuts through a world where people base so much on a kind of naturalism,” where they’ve “lost a sense of the supernatural.”

Richard Payne
It reinforces Pope Benedict XVI’s reflections on the “relativist problem that we have in our world,” he added, “this dictatorship of relativism, where everyone is making up their own sense of belief, of truth,” he added.
“When you come away from this document,” Richard reflected, “you get a sense of the centrality of the Eucharist,” as it reaffirms and reinforces the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ as “the source and summit of our spiritual life.”
Pointing out the practical benefit of visually illustrating Cdl. Müller’s manifesto, Stephen explained:
We’re filmmakers, and we see this beautiful document, but we also know that so many people are not reading it. There’s a whole world of people out there who are very visual, and of course, film is a visual medium, primarily, and it’s a great opportunity to create a film that not only literally goes word-for-word with this beautiful document, but also to speak in the multiple levels of meaning that film allows us, in regards to the sacramental imagination.”

Former doctrine chief warns of ‘radical U-turn’ in Catholic theology

Source: Cardinal Müller: Amazon Synod a ‘Pretext to Change the Church’

“Müller, former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was especially critical of the document for tying divine revelation to geography — for asserting that the Amazon is a “particular source of God’s Revelation.”
“[O]ne has to state that this is a false teaching,” the cardinal declared, “inasmuch as for 2,000 years, the Catholic Church has infallibly taught that Holy Scripture and Apostolic Tradition are the only sources of Revelation and that no further Revelation can be added in the course of history.”
Müller also denounced the Instrumentum Laboris for promoting a “cosmovision” tantamount to neo-pagan nature worship:
A cosmovision with its myths and the ritual magic of Mother “Nature,” or its sacrifices to “gods” and spirits which scare the wits out of us, or lure us on with false promises, cannot be an adequate approach for the coming of the Triune God in His Word and His Holy Spirit. … [In] the formation of future pastors and theologians, shall the knowledge of classical and modern philosophy, of the Church Fathers, of modern theology, of the Councils now be replaced with the Amazonian cosmovision and the wisdom of the ancestors with their myths and rituals? … The cosmos … is not to be adored like God, but only the Creator Himself.
“Instead of presenting an ambiguous approach with a vague religiosity and the futile attempt to turn Christianity into a science of salvation by sacralizing the cosmos and the biodiverse nature and ecology, it is important to look to the center and origin of our Faith,” said Müller.
Quoting Dei Verbum, the Second Vatican Council’s Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, the cardinal added: “In His goodness and wisdom God chose to reveal Himself and to make known to us the hidden purpose of His will by which through Christ, the Word made flesh, man might in the Holy Spirit have access to the Father and come to share in the divine nature.”

Cardinal-Muller_810_500_75_s_c1

“Cardinal Müller: There are many, now the Church, who do not know what doctrine is. They think it’s a theory, a kind of thought. The doctrine of the Church is the Gospel of Jesus, it is the doctrine of Jesus, and of the apostles, and that is why it is the presentation, the verbalization of the Logos, of the word of God. The doctrine of the Church is the explanation of God’s self-revelation, and it is not our theory about God, or about some topic in the Church. A distinction must be made between the dogmatic doctrine of the Church and the academic doctrine of theologians. In this preparation of the so-called reform of the Curia they are lowering the priority of the faith. First comes the Secretariat of State, which says that the State Secretariat, with its relations with States, diplomacy and Vatican bureaucracy, is more linked to the Pope’s supreme mission than the doctrine of faith. This is absurd. Those are mundane, secular chores. The spiritual mission comes from Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ has not constituted the Vatican State with its head, and this head with his state governs the Church. It’s absurd. The truth is the opposite. The Secretariat of State is only an aid to guarantee the independence, the freedom of the pope against the influence of politicians. But it is not the essence of the Petrine ministry. And how can it be said, among the dicasteries, that first comes that of evangelization and then faith and the doctrine of faith? Evangelization is praxis and faith is theory. What concept of theory and praxis do they have? The Marxist system? Faith is the origin, the root of justification. Only through faith in Jesus Christ are we saved. Without faith, no one can please God. Faith is an infused virtue. The first gift of the Holy Spirit to us is faith and hope, love. You can’t say faith is just a theory.”

“The consequence for the Church’s life is that “we can only admit to ordination candidates who also possess the natural prerequisites, are intellectually and morally capable, and show the spiritual readiness to give themselves totally to the service of the Lord.”
“We can only turn away from false ways if we understand male and female sexuality as God’s gift, which does not serve narcissistic pleasure but has its true goal in the love between spouses and the responsibility for a family. Only in the wider context of Eros and Agape does sexuality have the power to build up the human person, the Church, and the state. Otherwise it brings about destruction.”
Seeing celibacy as the cause of sexual crimes against adolescents can only arise from a “materialist and atheistic point of view,” he said. “There is no proof for that; statistical data about sexual abuse say the opposite.”
Such an atheistic view is also found “in the arguments of those who blame abuse crimes on an invented ‘clericalism’ or on the sacramental structure of the Church.” He said that clerics are not mere “officials”, but are meant to minister to the people of God.
Seeing clerics as “power-fixated functionaries … is possible only in a secularized Church,” Müller concluded.
“Instead of surrounding ourselves with media consultants, and seeking help for the Church’s future from economic advisers, all of us … have to refocus on the origin and center of our faith: the triune God, the incarnation of Christ, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the closeness to God in the Holy Eucharist and in frequent Confession, daily prayer, and the readiness to be guided in our moral life by God’s grace. Nothing else provides the way out of the present crisis of faith and morals into a good future.”
