The World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos concluded leaving some commentators concerned about depopulation talk from high profile individuals like Jane Goodall, misinterpreted IPCC SR1.5 findings by Greta Thunberg, and talk of doomsday battles by Al Gore. Roger Pielke, Jr. has written an interesting story in Forbes, showing that climate catastrophe and depopulation notions stem from the most extreme computer simulated scenarios, known as Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 – RCP 8.5, and how this became ‘mainstream’ thinking due to an influential report funded by green billionaires and promoted by activists. But the authors of the original report, never even intended for these simulations to be used in this way – and neither can the extreme RCP 8.5 be compared to any other scenario, especially as the others are calculated on a world with 3 billion fewer people by 2100. Is that spawning depopulation chatter? Perhaps. Both climate crisis and depopulation themes are disturbing and inaccurate. CLINTEL – the global climate intelligence group of over 800 scientists dispute the claims of a climate emergency.

The horrific Australian wildfires are the result of many causes, not just climate change – and much can be done to reduce wildfire risk through well-researched, well-known mitigation techniques. The public should know this. But Poytner Institute’s ‘fact check’ network and facebook are preventing the public from learning about wildfire mitigation techniques that were not properly implemented or arsonists who are known to start many wildfires.
Poynter Institute claims to be a global leader in journalism and in support of a free press, and democracy. Poynter has partnered with facebook on a journalism integrity project to supposedly prevent false news from distribution, but instead it is blocking important facts from getting to the public. Poytner set up the “International Fact Checking Network” (IFCN) which is a network of journalists and scientists of various disciplines who are supposed to provide non-partisan and objective review of news items to ensure that false news is not distributed. Based on IFCN pronouncements, facebook will then demote page quality is a post is deemed to be ‘false news’ (i.e. does not promote climate change as the cause of wildfires). The problem is that Poytner, IFCN, its sub-networks of Science Feedback and Climate Feedback, and facebook all seem to be stuck in climate dogma.
This video summarizes much of the material in Friends of Science Society’s open letter to Poynter and facebook on this topic. https://blog.friendsofscience.org/202…

“As children embark on a law suit against the Canadian government over demands for a ‘stable’ climate, launched in Vancouver on Oct. 25, 2019, with famous climate activist Greta Thunberg present, records show that the climate strike #FridaysForFuture phenomenon is originally a corporate offset, social engineering and social media marketing vehicle for green billionaires. Parties associated with the public offering are pressing for a global carbon tax law and $400/tonne carbon tax. Does this surreptitious form of misleading youth advertising violate various Canadian standards? We take a look and we ask questions. Here’s Interpol’s “Guide to Carbon Trading Crime,” to better appreciate some concerns. http://www.climatechange101.ca/wp-con…”

It was nice to see Greta laughing and smiling at the Montreal Climate Strike. She even told a couple of jokes. That’s how it should be for everyone, now that 500 scientists have told the UN that there’s NO climate emergency. Greta also appeared in a video clip with anti-capitalist George Monbiot, the fellow who has pushed for a ‘personal carbon ration’ for each of us. If you run out, you just buy more from someone who has more…. Greta and George talk about trees being ‘magical machines’ to suck carbon from the air, and Justin Trudeau appears to have jumped on that bandwagon by promising to plant a billion trees. Much of climate ideology goes back to Bill McKibben’s book “The End of Nature” wherein he promoted the idea that Americans would rarely fly, see the world only by Internet, grow their own food, be powered by wind and solar, and divert their wealthy to developing nations. Is that what you want? McKibben thought this would be a ‘moral example’ to China to move to a ‘clean economy.’ Of course China is building a vast transportation network around the world and has recently sent troops into Hong Kong. Climate change doesn’t seem to be on their minds; should it preoccupy us? Now we know there is NO Climate Emergency, let’s let our kids go back out to play and have fun. Links:

Canadian media seem obsessed with climate stories and some have signed up for Columbia Review of Journalism’s global program entitled #CoveringClimateNow. But curiously, the biggest climate news of the year is that 500 scientists and professionals, and the Secretary General of the WMO, say there is no climate emergency. Shouldn’t that be front page news? Especially, when it turns out Canadian taxpayers are underwriting most of the media who seem to be able to only tell one side of the climate story.
