Ash Wednesday In today’s Gospel reading (Matt. 6:1-6, 16-18), Jesus says that we should not perform righteous deeds in order to be seen and then follows up on that with three examples to clarify what he means. What is the Historical Date of Good Friday? Was it AD 30 or AD 33? Some say Jesus Christ never lived or that his death and resurrection are myths. Dr. Taylor Marshall uses Scripture, Tradition, and astronomical data based on the moon and lunar cycles to show the exact time and day on which Christ died. As Catholics, it essential for us to prove that the Last Supper and the death of Our Lord are historical realities since they sacramentally come together throughout time in the Holy Mass. In today’s sample NSTI class, we solve the mystery of the exact historical date of Christ’s death for us and why it matters so much for Catholic apologetics.

The Sunday TV Mass is produced and broadcast weekly by the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls. Our goal is to bring the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy to those who are home bound or shut in and unable to join their local community for Mass. The Mass is broadcast all across South Dakota on the local CBS affiliate and many thousands participate each week. The Mass is recorded at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, streamed live to YouTube and available at http://www.sfcatholic.org.

“One should not be scandalized when Church leaders trim the truth. Since the Church is Satan’s chief enemy, he twists the Church’s weakest parts: fallible humans. This is why saints regularly pray to be saved from becoming the worst sinners, since their powerful virtues can be turned into equally powerful vices.”

“Monsignor Ronald Knox thus explained why he hesitated about visiting Rome: “He who travels in the barque of St. Peter had better not look too closely into the engine room.”

You can pray the Stations of the Cross (also known as the Way of the Cross) alone at anytime, but people most often pray them in a group setting Friday nights during Lent.”

Laetare Sunday’s sermon gets right to the heart of the matter of the Mass — the sacrifice. Beginning with the miracle of the loaves and fishes, Father illustrates how this prefigures the Last Supper, the Sacrifice of Calvary and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Then Father shows how from Luther to Bugnini the idea has been to destroy the sacrifice and wreck the Church. Father’s powerful conclusion will make you want to become a saint today!

Living the Truth the Church Teaches

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. —Soren Kierkegaard. "...truth is true even if nobody believes it, and falsehood is false even if everybody believes it. That is why truth does not yield to opinion, fashion, numbers, office, or sincerity--it is simply true and that is the end of it" - Os Guinness, Time for Truth, pg.39. “He that takes truth for his guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him aright.” - Blaise Pascal. "There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily" – George Washington letter to Edmund Randolph — 1795. We live in a “post-truth” world. According to the dictionary, “post-truth” means, “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” Simply put, we now live in a culture that seems to value experience and emotion more than truth. Truth will never go away no matter how hard one might wish. Going beyond the MSM idealogical opinion/bias and their low information tabloid reality show news with a distractional superficial focus on entertainment, sensationalism, emotionalism and activist reporting – this blogs goal is to, in some small way, put a plug in the broken dam of truth and save as many as possible from the consequences—temporal and eternal. "The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." – George Orwell “There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” ― Soren Kierkegaard
