“The State Department announced Thursday that America is cutting ties with the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This U.N. behemoth is best known for cultural initiatives like designating and protecting World Heritage Sites. However, UNESCO also pushes population control under the euphemism “family planning.” The withdrawal will take effect on December 31, 2018.

Some people see this as part of fulfilling the Trump administration’s “America First” campaign promise. But it is also true that the United States’ relationship with UNESCO has been strained for years. In 2011, UNESCO welcomed Palestinian membership. The United States and Israel both stopped funding UNESCO as a result.”
