BLOGGER’S NOTE:  As of this writing I have not read Joe’s book. That’s on my list. We all of us who know Joseph all follow him on Facebook, his website and You Tube.  We invite everyone to come and meet him.  He like others, there are a few have left the lifestyle for Christ and a better life.

“Here a small bio about Joseph Sciambra, a Catholic Missionary whose recent life has been dedicated to helping individuals who struggle with Same-Sex Attraction.  In 1999, following a near death experience, Joseph transitioned from a thoroughly confused, conflicted and insecure person into a believer in the healing power of Jesus Christ and a messenger for the Catholic Church.

After his near death experience, he began writing extensively concerning his time earning a livelihood through becoming a gay porn actor and being an escort, as well as the real-life issues of pornography, homosexuality, and the occult.

His latest book, Swallowed by Satan, is available in Kindle format from amazon for $4.95 at https://www.amazon.com/Swallowed-Satan-Christ-Pornography-Homosexuality/dp/193926815X

How sad it is that many couples are not seeking help from the Church when they find themselves going through difficult times in their marriage. Lately, we’ve been hearing about couples not even going to family for help or support. In fact, they are divorcing first and then informing their families of their actions, after the divorce is final. We would assume that the thought of prayer never crossed their minds. Many of the problems we experience in marriage is a result of the fact that we are not living marriage in accord with God’s plan. ~ Greg & Julie

Reflections:

1. Do you seek out the Church’s teaching to live out your marriage? Check out the Catechism of the Catholic Church, starting with Article 7 – paragraph 1601.
2. Examine your conscience today and identify 1 – 3 things you need to ask your spouse for forgiveness and do it!
3. Have you thought of asking St. Raphael to intercede for your marriage? If not, recite the prayer below or share it with someone in need. I’m sure you know many who can use this prayer right now.

St. Raphael Prayer for Troubled Marriages

O Glorious St. Raphael, Archangel of healing, intercede for our marriage today.
Bring our marriage the same heavenly gifts you brought Tobias and Sarah, the celestial graces of healing, deliverance, and marital unity.

Infuse into our hearts the peace and confidence that nothing is impossible with God concerning the renewal of our marriage. Rekindle in our marriage new forgiveness, new humility, new grace, new peace, new purity, new trust, and new love.

O St. Raphael, one of the seven who stand before the throne of God, intercede to the Merciful Father for the miracle of peace and reconciliation in our marriage, through the infinite merits of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, and the consoling power of the Holy Spirit.

O blessed Raphael, guide us on the pathway of marital peace and unity. Most loving Archangel of healing, I believe in you, I trust in you, and I thank you. Amen.

“But especially for boys, we need our fathers; sons need their dads. As a wounded man, trying to escape the false reality of homosexuality, I needed the loving kindness of my mother, and I knew I always had it. I needed that as well from my Father, but in a different way. I needed his strength and protection. As I lay there dying – I needed him to pick me up. While my mother could offer consolation, only my father could save me.

And that is exactly what happened. When I had nothing else to live for – except death, the Lord took pity on me. Like I was a small boy again, someone literally picked me up off the side of the road. Was it Christ, Saint Joseph, or my father? All I know is that the man who effortlessly hoisted me over his shoulder was strong and silent; he carried me, not saying a word, to a place of healing and refuge. There I was tended with incredible kindness – by a mother and a father – by Our Lady and Saint Joseph – by my own parents. And, like our friends in heaven, they never accepted that I was “gay,” instead they stood back and watched with anguish and sorrow as I made one mistake after another; my mother cried, my father prayed. But now that I was spent and tired – they offered me a way home. Only, that required humility on my part, in a sense – to go limp and let someone pick you up. I had to admit that I couldn’t make it any other way. I had to admit that I needed help. That I could not walk back home on my own. The prodigal son must become a boy again.

“Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, he is the greater in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 18: 3-4)”

“In 2008 I founded an organization called the Brothers of Padre Pio in order to bring hope to people when we are faced with a sometimes harsh world. I work on the streets of Pasadena and Los Angeles sharing my story as an example of the power of unshakeable faith.

I am often asked, “Would you do anything different in your life if you had the chance?” I always answer with an unequivocal ,”no.” In return I ask, “If you could do anything different in your life, what would it be?” Most ponder the question and recite a litany of regrets and “if I only…”

In 2007 I was diagnosed with AIDS. I do not regret having AIDS, nor do I regret that I am gay and that my lifestyle was unacceptable to the church. For most of my life I felt like an outcast but never have I felt that I was not loved by God. At a young age, I questioned my sexuality and in turn my faith was questioned and I was considered “wrong” for allowing and accepting the truth of who I am. Although I strayed from the church my heart was always aligned with God and our Beloved Virgin Mary.

For 25 years I was in relationship with my best friend, Robert. We still live together but we are no longer intimate. It was the perceived rejection by others that often drove me to lose myself in alcohol and drug use. I will never forget the day it was confirmed that I had contracted the AIDS virus. It was surreal.  I remember thinking that I wanted to die; but that was not meant to be. At least not yet.”

“Secular humanism,” Cdl. Bagnasco declared, “revealing itself in its horrible anti-clerical reality has, in a certain sense, defied the council. The religion of God who became Man has met the religion (for such it is) of man who makes himself God.”

The Genoese archbishop cautioned his audience that Europe risks losing the very fruits of civilization and culture Christianity has generated over the past 2,000 years. Quoting the Romantic writer Novalis (Georg Friedrich Philipp von Hardenberg), he warned, “If Europe separated itself totally from Christ, then it would cease to be.”

Hearkening to the “frequent appeals to Europe” of Pope St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, Cdl. Bagnasco repeated the words of Pope Francis who in 2016 said that the continent “has a strength, a culture, a history that must not be wasted.”

Across Europe, he noted, the “march of secularism” has produced a dominant culture and singular way of thinking that is alien to Christian culture.”
