Down in the catacombs, Michael Matt discusses the case of a young priest in Minnesota who’s taking heat for firing “married” homosexual musicians in his parish. The parish is divided, the media are outraged, and the faithful are confused. Whose fault is this? The priest’s? No, he’s just doing his job. The gay musicians’? No, not really—they’ve been working in the same parish for over ten years, and nobody objected. Michael calls on Catholics—liberal and conservative alike–to demand that the ‘Church of Accompaniment’ either edit and remove the Catechism of the Catholic Church’s moral teaching on this question….or enforce it. There is no other way. Hate has nothing to do with it. Padre Pio and Pope John Paul were pretty clear on this question too, by the way. Are we to conclude that they too were intolerant, non-inclusive haters? How long does the madness go on before Catholics demand answers from our feckless priests, bishops and popes?

“The seamless garment was a term coined by a Catholic ethicist in 1971 to equate the intrinsic evil of abortion with capital punishment. Catholic teaching bans abortion but allows capital punishment in certain situations. The Seamless Garment was later equated with the term “consistent ethic of life” by the late Cdl. Joseph Bernardin of Chicago in talks given at two universities in 1983 and 1984.”

“FSSPX.News: Does this affect the relations between the Society of St. Pius X and Rome?

Bishop Fellay: Our respect for the pope remains intact, and it is precisely out of respect for his office that we ask him as his sons to “confirm his brethren” by publicly rejecting the openly heterodox propositions that are causing so much division in the Church.

I appreciated the answer of Ettore Gotti Tedeschi [1], who also signed the Correctio Filialis. He rightly declared that we are not the enemies of the pope. On the contrary, we do this because we love the Church.

This was Archbishop Lefebvre’s attitude and that of the Society of St. Pius X from the beginning. In his declaration on November 21, 1974, our founder said, “We adhere with all our heart and all our soul to Catholic Rome, guardian of the Catholic Faith and the traditions necessary to maintain it, and to Eternal Rome, mistress of wisdom and truth. On the other hand we refuse and have always refused to follow the Rome of the neo-Modernist and neo-Protestant tendencies”; it is precisely this neo-Modernism and neo-Protestantism that the authors of the Correctio Filialis rightly denounced as the cause of the changes made by Amoris Laetitia in the doctrine and morality of marriage.”

A Blog for Dallas Area Catholics

What can I say?  I agree, completely.  She is, inconceivably, even worse than the present occupant of the White House in terms of moral dereliction, promotion of outwardly evil policy, propensity to persecute the Church, and personal immorality.  Hillary Clinton can and must be virulently opposed on a huge swath of issues, from her manifest support for abortion to her likely Supreme Court nominees to her support for the government’s endorsement of immoral acts to her manifest disdain for faithful Christians and her willingness to openly persecute them. We are, after all, deplorable:

The priest in the sermon directly states that Catholics are morally permitted to vote for Trump under the principle of double effect, while it is morally impermissible to vote for Hillary Clinton, and while he does not say so, I would argue that doing the latter constitutes a grievous sin due to her disastrous record and numerous statements…

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. —Soren Kierkegaard. "...truth is true even if nobody believes it, and falsehood is false even if everybody believes it. That is why truth does not yield to opinion, fashion, numbers, office, or sincerity--it is simply true and that is the end of it" - Os Guinness, Time for Truth, pg.39. “He that takes truth for his guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him aright.” - Blaise Pascal. "There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily" – George Washington letter to Edmund Randolph — 1795. We live in a “post-truth” world. According to the dictionary, “post-truth” means, “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” Simply put, we now live in a culture that seems to value experience and emotion more than truth. Truth will never go away no matter how hard one might wish. Going beyond the MSM idealogical opinion/bias and their low information tabloid reality show news with a distractional superficial focus on entertainment, sensationalism, emotionalism and activist reporting – this blogs goal is to, in some small way, put a plug in the broken dam of truth and save as many as possible from the consequences—temporal and eternal. "The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." – George Orwell “There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” ― Soren Kierkegaard
