My fellow Marian Fr. Seraphim Michalenko sometimes tells story that a priest ministering in Japan shared with him in Rome. This priest was attending an international gathering of Christians from across the world, attended by foreign dignitaries. The ambassador from Japan approached the priest, verified that the priest served in Japan and was a Catholic priest, and then said, ” War is your fault. “

The priest was surprised and asked what the ambassador meant. The ambassador said, “You Catholics, all of you —we do not have peace in the world. It is your fault. “

The priest said, Ambassador, why do you blame us? “

The ambassador said, ” I’ve read about this. The Lady came to you at Fatima, right? That’s what you believe? She told you what to do to secure peace in the world. Well, there’s no peace in the world, so obviously you Catholics haven’t done it. “

The priest had to acknowledge that the ambassador was correct, but still tried to protest, saying. “Isn’t peace everyone’s responsibility? “

The ambassador was vehement. ” No, she came to you Catholics. Not to Buddhist. Not to Hindus. She came to you, and it is your responsibility. “

We’ve been given the answer. Pray the Rosary everyday and invite others to pray with you.

BLOGGER’S NOTE:  In case your wonder what Emeritus Benedict XVI means by Zeitgeist:

[“The Zeitgeist (spirit of the age or spirit of the time) is the dominant set of ideals and beliefs that motivate the actions of the members of a society in a particular period in time.”]

“Benedict acknowledged this heroic struggle in his dear friend, who watched unfaithful shepherds treat his Lord with such contempt:

We know that it was hard for him, the passionate shepherd and pastor of souls, to leave his office, and this precisely at a time when the Church had a pressing need for shepherds who would oppose the dictatorship of the zeitgeist, fully resolved to act and think from a faith standpoint.

It wasn’t just his love of the Church that caused the cardinal so much stress but his love of souls being restored to grace in the confessional and his love for Our Lord in the Eucharist. Benedict touched on both sources of joy in the cardinal’s life.

Benedict remarked:

The first was that he often related to me that what filled him with deep joy was to experience, in the Sacrament of Penance, how young people, above all young men, came to experience the mercy of forgiveness, the gift, in effect to have found life, which only God can give them.”

BLOGGER’S NOTE:  I’m all for good relations with all countries at this point.  We should all work for a better world.  We need to do this with leadership from our Lord and those who govern.  We need some “Perestroika and Glasnost” on both sides of the world from all in the world.  We don’t make peace.  Peace comes from upon high even though many do not believe in a higher power.  I do and we that know about this higher power need to stay in touch with the Lord in these days.  Its imperative.  So let us be guided by the higher power and give glory to Him who makes the real peace not a false peace. Keep this in mind regarding the story of  Fatima my fellow journey men and women in the belief of the Lord. Peace in our Lord Jesus Christ only.  Not of our making but of His.  Amen brothers and sisters.

Living the Truth the Church Teaches

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. —Soren Kierkegaard. "...truth is true even if nobody believes it, and falsehood is false even if everybody believes it. That is why truth does not yield to opinion, fashion, numbers, office, or sincerity--it is simply true and that is the end of it" - Os Guinness, Time for Truth, pg.39. “He that takes truth for his guide, and duty for his end, may safely trust to God’s providence to lead him aright.” - Blaise Pascal. "There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily" – George Washington letter to Edmund Randolph — 1795. We live in a “post-truth” world. According to the dictionary, “post-truth” means, “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief.” Simply put, we now live in a culture that seems to value experience and emotion more than truth. Truth will never go away no matter how hard one might wish. Going beyond the MSM idealogical opinion/bias and their low information tabloid reality show news with a distractional superficial focus on entertainment, sensationalism, emotionalism and activist reporting – this blogs goal is to, in some small way, put a plug in the broken dam of truth and save as many as possible from the consequences—temporal and eternal. "The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." – George Orwell “There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” ― Soren Kierkegaard
