“When people say the Rosary together, it is far more formidable to the devil, than one said privately. Because in this public prayer, it is an army that is attacking him. He can often overcome the prayer of an individual, but if this prayer is joined to other Christians, the devil has much more trouble in getting the best of it.” -St Louis de Montfort.
On this Feast of St. Benedict, we are calling all “believing” Catholics to join in a powerful campaign of spiritual warfare, entitled, “Novena for Our Nation” (August 15 to October 7).The United States Grace Force has grown to nearly 50,000 special forces prayer warriors, and we want to get larger and stronger!!

Prayer for the Reconciliation of Protestants and other Self-proclaimed Bible experts…

Almighty Father, Creator of Heaven, Earth, and all that dwells within both realms, we, the faithful lament the loss of our brothers and sisters in Christ from full commuion in His Church. Thus we pray with open minds, outstretched arms, and sorrowful hearts that our fellow Christians may experience reconciliation with the Holy Church. We pray for the souls of Martin Luther, John Calvin, and all Protestant leaders who denied Your Church. We pray for not only the spirits of our Catholic brethren, but for all Christians who have passed from this world. Lord God, Most Understanding and Merciful, your only Son was condemned to agonizing death at the hands of evil men so that we may be delivered into eternal life. Let not schism and suspicion taint Your servants. Instead, allow us to celebrate Your appointed Mass as one joyful Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Retreat House

The retreat house, originally built c.1709, was enlarged over many generations preserving within its walls pre-Revolutionary, Federal, neo-Classical and Victorian architectural elements.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places the house was recently featured in the New York Times column, “Great Homes and Designations“.

How long are the retreats?

Three to five days from Friday morning or evening through Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning or afternoon.  We will confirm the days of your retreat by telephone (815)793-7465.  Leave a voicemail for a reply.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Email: FatherTomSays@gmail or call (815) 793-7465 ( Be sure to leave a message for a return call ).

What is the retreat schedule?

Our retreats begin with Morning Mass. Our group activities include the readings and our discussions of the Church’s ancient tradition of the Office of the Hours three times daily, morning, mid-day and mid-afternoon. At other times we maintain silence during the day except for ordinary conversation during meals. For those interested we will have daily classes on gardening, nutrition and making sourdough bread.  Much of our gardening provides the food for our meals. At other times during the day you may do as you please, take a hike or walk our wooded farmland area, read or whatever suits you.

My phone number (815) 793-7465 does not accept “unknown callers”. You would have to email me at FatherTomSays@gmail.com with your phone number so I may include you in my contact list. Cell phones are not permitted in the retreat house and may be left in your car or with the retreat director until the end of your retreat. The retreat house may be called with any emergency.

What will the retreat cost me?

Nothing or a good-will donation as you choose.  “Freely you received and freely you should offer”, as Jesus instructed his Apostles ( Matthew 10:8 ). Your retreat will include a private guest bedroom, meals and other amenities associated with a hotel stay ( except, of course, room service–its a retreat, after all ).

Other questions or requests

Email or call.  You may have to leave a voicemail which I will return.

Final Note

Registration is required no later than three full days before a scheduled retreat begins ( open link top left side of page ) at which time, however, there may not be any tickets available. Our retreats are purposefully small for five to seven individuals or married couples. Register early. If later you cannot attend simply email me at FatherTomSays@gmail.com as soon as you can.

Christian, Catholic Individual and Family Retreats

The Associations of Families for Families is a work of continual assistance, personal, individual and family.

Our Christian principles are derived from Pope Saint John Paul II’s Exhortation, Familiaris Consortio,  ( the Community of Family ).  Our mission identifies its work with the ten principles or guidelines recommended by Pope John Paul II for the fulfillment of individual and families’ lives set out in the monastic-style retreats we offer families and individuals.

We identify ourselves in the community of a Church alive in Jesus Christ and in the assistance we provide individuals and families desiring a better understanding of themselves, their families and their relationships with God and each other. We are dedicated to the daily practice of the ancient tradition of the Church’s Liturgy of the Office of the Hours” and the retreats we offer.
