I asked my parishioners to share with me why they are still Catholic.

BLOGGER’S NOTE:  Pray for Priests everywhere.  Pray for them to be faithful to Jesus Christ no matter what. As Father has stated, “Were running into a burning building.” Amen.

His tone-deaf commentary minimizes outrage of faithful Catholics at clerical sex abuse cover-up

BLOGGER’S NOTE: I think Holy Father needs to hear from the “other”
side of the “aisle” in the “pews”. Allegedly I’m getting the impression not
everyone’s relevant voice who is truly a somebody in the Church is being
heard by Holy Father. This delegate needs to go before Rome and state
their case for Catholic American people and everyone of the Church body.
Speaking of which and especially those who have been under the shackles
of abuse in the Body of Christ.

“Warning of a drift toward apostasy, the Utrecht archbishop quoted Article 675 of the catechism, which foretells a future “ultimate trial” for the Church: “Before Christ’s Second Coming, the Church must pass through a final trial that will unveil the ‘mystery of iniquity’ … in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the Truth.”

Cardinal Eijk said the pope’s failure to create clarity endangers the unity of the Church.

BLOGGER’S NOTE:  Dare this laywoman say that the Church would no longer be recognizable if this should come to pass? I think my answer is yes. Come Holy Spirit Come.  Lord have mercy on us. Lord at your.  I thank your Prelate Cardinal Eijk for his witness and pray for his success under your will. May we all be bold in proclaiming your truths.

“Perhaps most starkly of all — scholars on all sides seemed to have missed this — Jesus vindicates the employment by the state of the death penalty at his own trial with Pontius Pilate, in John 19:11. What He says should verily end all debate: “Pilate said: ‘Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?’ Jesus answered: ‘You would have no power over me [to kill me] if it were not given to you from above.'” Oops, missed that one, Fr. Patella!

Sounds strangely identical to St. Augustine’s definition of the state’s prerogative to execute criminals: “The agent who executes the killing does not commit homicide; he is an instrument as is the sword with which he cuts. Therefore, it is in no way contrary to the commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’ to wage war at God’s bidding, or for the representatives of public authority to put criminals to death, according to the law, that is, the will of the most just reason.”
