The Divine Mercy Chaplet which millions recite today was taught to Saint Faustina Kowalska as an invocation of trust in our Lord. This beautiful EWTN Home Video, shot on location at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy on Eden Hill in Stockbridge, MA, is the same Chaplet of Divine Mercy recited daily by Mother Angelica and EWTN viewers.
The Divine Mercy Chaplet
The Chaplet itself only takes about 7 – 8 minutes to say not long at all and may be chanted.
Optional Opening Prayers
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
Our Lord instructed St. Faustina: “You will recite this chaplet on the beads of the rosary in the following manner: First of all you will say one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Apostle’s Creed. Then, on the Our Father beads say these words: ‘Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Thy Most Beloved Son and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and the sins of the whole world.’
On the Hail Mary beads say the following words:
‘For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion have mercy on us and the whole world.’
In conclusion say THREE TIMES these words:
‘Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.’
The Lord said to St. Faustina (1905-1938):
“Encourage souls to say the Chaplet which I have given you….
Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death….
When they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying,
I will stand between My Father and the dying person,
not as the just Judge but as the Merciful Savior…..
“I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. I also promise victory over [it’s] enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own glory.”
